Premier League:
Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United Preview
Tottenham host Manchester United in a clash that could be the nail in the coffin for Spurs’ top 4 ambitions.
Tottenham’s top four ambitions took an absolute battering on Sunday. The 6-1 defeat away to Newcastle was described as “wholly unacceptable” by club chairman, Daniel Levy.
Levy acted quick, dismissing interim coach, Christian Stellini and appointing Ryan Mason for the remainder of the campaign.
Top 4 may look a little out-of-reach for Mason’s humiliated squad, but there are still other European competition places up for grabs for Spurs.
Manchester United, on the other hand, have been in good form lately and are looking to secure a top-four spot.
They come into this match with a four-match winning streak against Spurs and although United are likely to be fatigued after a gruelling FA Cup game against Brighton, they will be hopeful of keeping Spurs at arms length in the race for Champions League football.
Harry Kane will be leading the attack for Tottenham and will be hoping to score his first home goal against Manchester United since May 2017 – the last game at White Hart Lane.
However, Spurs will have to improve their defence, which conceded six goals in their last game against Newcastle (5 in 21′ mins).
Manchester United’s defence has been impressive this season, with the most clean sheets in the league, and they will be looking to continue their strong defensive record – however, the absences of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane may prove costly.
Players to watch
Marcus Rashford had a remarkable start to his post-World Cup form, scoring 10 goals in 10 games. However, his recent form has seen him score only once in the last five games.
He has scored just three of his 15 league goals away from home but despite this, doubts over the fitness of Bruno Fernandes mean Rashford will need to bring his A-game to north London.
Harry Kane is on the verge of a remarkable stat, the first player to score 100 goals both home and away. He is currently on 99 home goals.
As captain, he will be desperate to put right the wrongs of Sunday’s debacle and with a slightly weaker United defence, he could find himself breaking the record.

Tottenham v Manchester United Best Bet & Tips
Cristian Romero to be carded – 2.10 @ William Hill
Christian Romero has racked up 12 yellow cards this season! 8 in the Premier League. The Tottenham Hotspur stadium may be a volatile place tonight so I expect full blooded challenges from the Argentine centre-halve.
He’s up against the likes of Rashford, Fernandes, Antony and Sabitzer who all average being fouled over 0.7 times per game.
Anthony Taylor the man in the middle averages 4.00 yellows per game total (3.79 in PL).
1pt bet.

Over 2.5 goals combined, over 2.5 corners for Spurs & over 3.5 cards – 41/25 (2.64) @ QuinnBet Create-a-Bet
Over 2.5 goals has landed in 56% of Spurs’ games this season and 4 of their last 5. United have seen it land in 53% of games – both teams above the PL average of 52%.
Spurs typically average at least 3 corners per game.
Anthony Taylor the referee for tonight’s match dishes out 4 cards per game on average. Man Utd average 2.1 cards per game, Spurs the same 2.1.
1pt Stake.
Tottenham v Man United – Result: Draw – 3.70 @ William Hill
This is more of a feeling than a researched bet. United would be happy with a draw; after going to extra time at Wembley at the weekend they could be a little leggy. They are also in the driving seat in the race for top 4 and with an injury littered defence, it may be valuable to halt Spurs to just 1 point.
Spurs may come out cautious after the weekend’s humiliation at the hands of Newcastle. They will want to keep a clean sheet but can they go up the other end and score?
1pt stake.
