Yesterday we saw the first 2 Quarter finals and we have now a determined first semi final match, with the other 2 Quarter Finals taking place today. The first match saw top seed and man of the moment Carlos Alcaraz take on a confident Karen Khachanov. It is worth noting that this was the Spaniard’s last match as a teenager as Friday he will be turning 20. The first set started in a controlled manner from Alcaraz, and one break decided the set at 6-4. The second seemed to be a different story with Khachanov playing some aggressive tennis seeming to put Alcaraz in trouble and taking a 5-2 lead. However the youngster showed that he has fighting qualities as well and came roaring back to take 5 games in a row to seal his semi final spot. His opponent in the semi final will be Borna Coric who is having one of his better tournaments in a while. He looked really good and consistent in beating Daniel Altmaier 6-3, 6-3 and he could give Alcaraz a good test if he keeps this form up. Here is what Borna Coric had to say about his upcoming match up with Alcaraz:
'He's the favourite – I'm going to go out there and enjoy myself, I like to play here'
Don't sleep on @borna_coric as he takes on Alcaraz in the Madrid semis on Friday!#MMOpen pic.twitter.com/iXXoGaweVj

Also yesterday we had an unexpected cracker in a challenger tournament at Aix en Provence where Andy Murray beat Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-3. That will give Murray a much needed boost in confidence, it also gave Monfils some minutes under his belt to continue his comeback from injury.
Today we will see the other 2 Quarter Finals at Mutua Madrid and also some good level matches at Aix ev Provence and here are my predictions:
Zhang to beat Karatsev
Struff to win a set vs Tsitsipas
Bublik 2-0 Virtanen
Halys 2-0 Fils
